Google won’t remove a review: what to do next

You have reported a review about your business, but it is still there. Before trying again, check whether you have received a decision on the original report or on an appeal. For a UK business dealing with disputed bookings, call-outs or branch details, the next step depends on both the evidence and what Google has already considered.

An initial rejection and a final appeal are different

Google’s Reviews Management Tool shows the progress of reports. After an initial decision finding no violation, an eligible review can be submitted for a one-time appeal. If an appeal has already been decided, do not assume that another standard appeal is available. Keep the decision email: the tool’s status alone may not explain the final outcome.

Identify what your first report was missing

A statement that a review is unfair leaves the central question unanswered: what makes it eligible for removal? Separate disagreements about service from evidence about who posted it, which business it describes, or how it was obtained. A short chronology with a supporting record is more useful to assess than repeated assertions that the customer is wrong.

When further reporting is unlikely to help

If the review describes a real experience and your objection is its tone or low score, another report may have no sound basis. Likewise, submitting the same account repeatedly does not create new evidence. A measured public response and resolving a genuine complaint may be the more useful next step.

Keep the decision, not just the review

  • The review link, current text or rating, and a dated screenshot.
  • The reason selected in the first report and Google’s full decision email.
  • Whether an appeal was submitted, when, and the reference if available.
  • The specific record that supports your concern, with unrelated personal information removed.

Keep original records. Share only what is relevant, and avoid putting private customer or staff information into a public reply.

Make the next submission count

These steps explain the platform’s published process. Reporting is available without paying for our service.

  1. Open Google’s reporting guidance below and access the Reviews Management Tool with the account that manages the correct business.
  2. Check the report status. If the decision is pending, monitor that report rather than treating the wait as a rejection.
  3. If the tool offers an appeal, explain the relevant issue and supporting evidence. If the appeal is already decided, retain the result and assess whether any genuinely different issue or available route remains.

FICTIONAL EXAMPLE · NOT A CLIENT RESULT

The same complaint. A different reason to investigate.

The engineer missed the slot and I was still charged the call-out fee.

A trades business may disagree about the appointment or fee. That alone does not establish a policy breach. If the booking confirmation identifies another firm with a similar trading name, it provides a more specific point to assess alongside the rejected report.

Bring the case to a specialist

Send the review link and the response from Google, with a short account of the steps you have taken. We assess the available options and the evidence behind the complaint. You will hear from a specialist within one business day, including when we do not see a supported basis to proceed.

Already tried the standard reporting process? We can assess whether further options are available for your case.
